Membership

Everyone is welcome to swim at The Wendover Swimming Pool – but you must be a member, and you must book your swim in advance.

Visit our online shop to create your membership.

You will not be able to book a swim session unless you are a member, and you can only book a session for yourself, or people in your household who are registered in your membership account.

To keep swimming accessible to all, we have free membership tiers for individuals and families, as well as paid-for memberships.

If you join with a free membership, then you will need to pay full price for your swims. If you join with one of our paid-for memberships, then you can swim at a reduced price. If you visit regularly you will save money if you pay for your membership.

All memberships – whether free or paid-for must be created online. You create a free-tier membership by “purchasing” it – but the price is zero, and no payment is required.

When you create a Household Membership (whether free-tier or paid-for), you must then add the names of all the members of your family – including infants – at your Account Page. You will not be able to book a swim for anyone in your household until they are named.

Visit our online shop to create your membership.

A Household Membership is available to families or couples living together at the same address. Partners need not be married. We do not limit the number of children that can be part of a Household Membership. Adult “children” can be included in a household membership, provided that they normally live at the same family address.

Partners who do not have children, but who live at the same address and both want to be members, should buy a Household Membership and not two Individual Memberships.

The discounted price for swimming is available only to members of the household who are living together at the same address. The discounted price for swimming does not extend to family friends, extended family (not living at the same address) or other groups arriving at the pool together.

All new paid-for memberships last for one year from the date they are taken out. Free-tier memberships last forever.

Membership FAQs

Q: Why do I have to be a member? I always used to just turn up and swim!

A: We need to limit the number of people in the pool – so we need to ask swimmers to book in advance so that numbers are controlled. And, we need to keep track of everyone who swims in the pool, and when they swim – so that they can be contacted if required. We’re committed to keeping swimming in Wendover as accessible as possible, so we’ve created some new free membership tiers.

Q: Do I have to create my new membership online?

A: Yes. It means that we can take immediate payment with a credit card – so you can purchase a membership at home. It also means that we can keep a much better track of who has a membership, and when the memberships expire.

Q: Do I have to pay by PayPal?

A: We use PayPal to process our online transactions. We use an external supplier like this so that we can be sure that your credit card details are safe. We don’t store (or even see!) your credit card details. Of course, PayPal would prefer that you used a PayPal account when you pay – but you don’t need to, you can just use a credit or debit card.

Q: But I don’t have a credit card!

A: We know that some people don’t have a credit card, or cannot shop online. We understand that, and we can accommodate you. If you really can’t use the online system, or if you don’t have a credit card, then contact us.

Q: Is the information that you hold about me safe and secure?

A: Check our privacy and security policy on our terms and conditions page. In summary, we do everything that we reasonably can to ensure that your information is safe. In particular, we use https, and we don’t store (or even see!) your credit card details. However, please bear in mind that even some of the worlds largest and richest companies have been compromised.

Q: Will my membership renew automatically when it expires?

No. You will need to renew your membership manually when it expires.

Q: Do I get a membership card with the new online system?

A: No. When you have completed your membership purchase, simply go to your account page. This shows your valid membership, and the expiration date. Just print off this page!

Q: Do I have to name all the members of my family?

A: Yes. Our new membership system requires that for household memberships, all members of the family must be named. You can add and remove names at your account page. You will need to name household members before you can book swimming.

Q: Can I book swimming for some friends?

A: No. You can only book swimming sessions for yourself, or named members of your household. If you have friends who want to swim at the pool, they will need to create their own membership account.

Q: I never want to swim at the pool again. Can you please delete my data?

A: Yes, of course. We will delete your data on request – subject to any government requirements to keep it. For example, we may be required to keep your data for a certain amount of time after you have last been swimming, in order to facilitate contact tracing. If you want us to delete your data, please Contact us. We will require you to prove that you are who you say you are! Deleting your data is a manual process, and may take a short while.
